What kind of decisions do you involve God in, if any?

How?

Whose job is it to make decisions for the future of church community?

Talk about the different roles – advantages, disadvantages….  Exodus 18: 5-27  (Jethro and Moses)

What would you like to see happen to the decision making process in the church – practical suggestions.

A good part of our discussion centred around who the minister is and what kind of authority the minister should exert.   For example – should the minister be more authoritarian or is teamwork more important? How far can a minister manipulate a congregation through preaching or leadership? When should trust in the minister’s leadership be more important than fear of change? More involvement in decision making should be the norm but it was also recognised that not everyone wants that kind of responsibility.
